Keeping it simple: pedagogical approach
This paper seeks to explore my personal pedagogical approach in teaching students coming to University of Delhi (India) from different backgrounds (class, caste, religion, ethnicity, language etc). The first part of my paper is about a class exercise that revealed frustrations encountered by students in their daily lives. What was supposed to be a simple class exercise turned out to be the reflections of the Indian society. The second part of my paper will focus on the passion of students that drove me to start a visual anthropology lab. Conceptualising and making short ethnographic films with bare minimum facilities will be discussed along with their findings: the resilience of people, critique of dominant narrative, lost tradition etc. The third part will be focused on my identity. A teacher with triple intersectionality: a woman belonging to an ethnic community outside the caste system, following a minority religion.
