Description

Through analysis of the historical facts, historical representations and present context of these Jurchen descendants to construct their screened memory practice. The reconstruction of important historical fragments is an important means for these Jurchen descendants to condense, distinguish and strengthen their cultural identity. The Wanyan clan makes use of their own ""Jurchen"" or Manchu identity fragment to construct memory, which has become the foreshadowing of the increasingly strong demand for ""Jurchen"" (Manchu) identity in the future. The local government aim to make the Wanyan descendants a perfection model of Jurchen culture and an officially recognized culture. The official creation of the Wanyan Folk Culture Village and the guided exhibition of Jurchen customs make Wanyan Village and the surrounding villages show a strong sense of boundaries. On the one hand, such borderline has become a tool for the display of folk culture given by the authorities under the power relationship. On the other hand, it also make the Wanyan clan no longer carry out large-scale joint applications to restore Manchu ethnic components and fight the government, but increasingly psychologically produce their own ""Jurchen descendants"" status of the default. Mutual connection, together to construct the cultural identity finally accepted by the public, and attracted the attention of the government. Because of the official participation and guidance, the Wanyan family have become the inheritors of the perfect folk intangible culture under the power relationship, and the clan itself has placed more emphasis on the construction and consolidation of the identity of Jurchen.
